The Concept
Avid wine collectors in Houston, Texas wanted to create a wine cellar that was a dramatic focal point of their main living space. The home has a traditional feel with art deco accents throughout. They wanted a wine room that looked as though it was part of the original home design rather than an afterthought.
The Design
The homeowners' vision came to life with this beautiful design for their 8’ by 8’ space which accommodates just over 1,000 bottles. The wine room has frameless glass on three sides and is visible from the front door, formal dining room, living room, and adjacent kitchen. Two large glass doors provide easy access to the space from both the living room and kitchen.
The Features
Vintage View wine racks were utilized in this wine cellar with wall mounted double-deep racks along the back and floor-to-ceiling mounted, two-sided racks, on the front and sides. The homeowner utilized a hand-painted venetian plaster faux finish, in a dark inkwell paint, for a dramatic effect against the matte black wine racks.
Two foam encased pillars were added to the outer corners of the wine room for support and include moldings to match the aesthetic found throughout the rest of the home.
